Annual Gala “Celebrates Lombardi”
January 1, 2010
Over 850 guests attended the 23rd annual Lombardi Gala on Saturday, November 7. Held at the Hilton Washington, the theme of the evening was “Celebrate Lombardi.” Gala Co-Chairs Tanya Potter Adler and Howard B. Adler were joined by special guests Mr. and Mrs. Vincent T. Lombardi, II to celebrate the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center’s past accomplishments and future discoveries. Highlights of the evening included the presentation of The Margaret L. Hodges Leadership Award to Molly and Mark Decker, a live raffle drawing of an all new 2010 Lexus IS 250 Convertible and the famed silent auction. Guests were able to bid on nearly 300 one-of-a-kind items in the extensive silent auction prior to the Gala dinner and program. The auction featured several premiere items inspired by the Gala’s Italian theme, including a “VIP” trip to Italy.
The event raised over $750,000, thanks to the generosity of sponsors and attendees. All proceeds from the gala support ongoing research, education and treatment efforts at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center—the only NCI designated comprehensive cancer center in the Washington, DC area.
