On Wednesday, February 27, Georgetown welcomed Al-Hareth M. Al-Khater, MBBS, LRCPI & SI, during his trip to the United States from his native country of Qatar. Al-Khater is assistant chairman of hematology and oncology at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research in Qatar.
Al-Khater was the guest of honor at a reception thrown by Waddah B. Al-Refaie, MD, FACS, chief of surgical oncology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and surgeon in chief at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Al-Refaie says he was pleased to introduce Al-Khater to other MedStar and Lombardi colleagues and to facilitate new connections and interactions.
“It was a pleasure to host Dr. Al-Khater here and to benefit from his international perspective in the field of cancer,” Al-Refaie says. “It is major priority of mine to nurture our international relationships, as that is a key avenue to some of the most productive and interesting collaborations in cancer research and care.”
Besides his role in the National Center for Cancer Care and Research, Al-Khater is also medical advisor for the National Cancer Program in the Supreme Council of Health, Qatar.
