Giant Food Raises $37,305 to Support Breast Care Services at Capital Breast Care Center

December 21, 2012

On December 20, 2012, Jamie Miller, manager of public & community relations for Giant Food LLC, presented Capital Breast Care Center (CBCC) of Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Center with a check for $37,305 that was raised through reusable bag sales. Giant Food donates five cents from the sale of each reusable bag during the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to a breast cancer organization making an impact in the community.

A community arm of Georgetown Lombardi, CBCC provides health outreach education, breast cancer screenings and patient navigation services to women regardless of their ability to pay. CBCC’s work is guided by evidence-based practices and aims to increase screening adherence among the underserved of the Washington, D.C. metro area.

This is the second year that Giant Food has chosen CBCC as a beneficiary for the bag sales. Giant raised $40,000 for CBCC last year.
