Dance Performance Provides 'Calming Effect'
November 10, 2011
Daniel Burkholder's The PlayGround Dance Company performed in the Georgetown University Medical School “Garden of Great Ideas” on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 12:15 p.m. for the Georgetown Lombardi community.
The piece entitled Primary/Scale combined athletic movement, meditative passages and unexpected encounters for the people who gathered, passers by, and a host of students in the library who flocked to the window for a welcome study break. The event was created in cooperation with the Medical School to provide a "lunchtime respite from our busy lives," said Nancy Morgan, Director of Arts and Humanities for Georgetown Lombardi. "This was our first outdoor performance. It was beautiful to watch and had the desired calming effect. We look forward to having more performances for the benefit of our community."
This performance was sponsored by an anonymous grant supporting dance at Georgetown Lombardi and the Frederick Henry Prince IV Family Hospital Morale Program.
