Mission
Based on the Jesuit guiding principle of cura personalis, Georgetown University School of Medicine is committed to providing a nurturing environment that will allow each faculty member to grow to their full potential as an academic professional (teacher, scholar, clinician) and as a human being. We develop, implement, and monitor programs and activities that support all Georgetown University School of Medicine faculty and post-doctoral fellows.
Objectives
- To support faculty, postdoctoral trainees, and departments in their efforts to achieve their individual goals
- To foster an environment that encourages the professional development of faculty, postdoctoral trainees, and students
Functions
- Support the professional development of faculty members and postdoctoral trainees in the School of Medicine
- Conduct an annual New Faculty Orientation
- Administer a Faculty Mentoring Program
- Conduct an annual Faculty Evaluation
- Facilitate recruitment, appointment, promotion, and retention of faculty
- Review, revise, and maintain appointment, promotion, and tenure guidelines
- Organize workshops and other events to foster career development, hone professional skills, and enhance the teaching and research environment
- Coordinate resources and opportunities to support the professional development of faculty members and postdoctoral trainees in the School of Medicine
