Mission
Based on the Jesuit guiding principle of cura personalis, Georgetown University School of Medicine is committed to providing a nurturing environment that will allow each faculty member to grow to their full potential as an academic professional (teacher, scholar, clinician) and as a human being. We develop, implement, and monitor programs and activities that support all Georgetown University School of Medicine faculty and post-doctoral fellows.

Objectives

  • To support faculty, postdoctoral trainees, and departments in their efforts to achieve their individual goals
  • To foster an environment that encourages the professional development of faculty, postdoctoral trainees, and students

Functions

  • Support the professional development of faculty members and postdoctoral trainees in the School of Medicine
  • Conduct an annual New Faculty Orientation
  • Administer a Faculty Mentoring Program
  • Conduct an annual Faculty Evaluation
  • Facilitate recruitment, appointment, promotion, and retention of faculty
  • Review, revise, and maintain appointment, promotion, and tenure guidelines  
  • Organize workshops and other events to foster career development, hone professional skills, and enhance the teaching and research environment
  • Coordinate resources and opportunities to support the professional development of faculty members and postdoctoral trainees in the School of Medicine
